Main Gallery: "Dialogue Reconstructed 2023: A Historical View on African American Influence in the Arts and Humanities"

  • Hutchinson Art Center 405 N Washington St Hutchinson, KS 67501 USA (map)

Join us for a historical view on just a few of the many creative and ingenuitive contributions made to American history by African American people. Join us as we examine musical innovations by black artists through an exclusive vinyl record display on loan from the collection of the Fine Arts and Humanities Department at Hutchinson Community College. Listen to their music as you read about the amazing accomplishments of these great musicians! Explore an eclectic selection from the Reno County Museum’s collection of artifacts that all share the common thread of originating from the minds of African American inventors.

And be inspired by our display of all poster designs from the local 1st-6th grade students who participate in the 2023 Scharlotte Minnis Poster Contest hosted by the Hutchinson, KS Chapter of the NAACP.

Join us at the Hutchinson Art Center on Friday, February 24th from 5:00 to 7:00 PM for an informative and refreshing exhibition that combines creativity and local history! There will be plenty of refreshments, music, and good company to enjoy as we welcome our newest exhibit to the Main Gallery. Admission is free and open to the public. We hope to see you there!

This exhibition is sponsored by the Hutchinson Community College Fine Arts & Humanities department, the Reno County Museum, the Hutchinson, KS chapter of the NAACP, and the Mulberry Art Gallery.
