FRONT GALLERY: now and then: the work of rachel hindle
NOVEMBER 13th - DECEMBER 12th, 2026
The Hutchinson Art Center is proud to feature artwork by local artist and Art Center staff member Rachel Hindle in our Front Gallery during the months of November and into December.
Rachel Hindle is a Hutchinson native who has been involved with art in some form since childhood. She majored in art at Hutchinson Community College and graduated in 2008. She then attended Friends University in Wichita, Kansas, where she majored in studio art with an emphasis on painting; she graduated in 2010. She later returned to Hutchinson Community College and graduated with a business degree in 2018.
Hindle mostly paints with oils on canvas but also enjoys drawing and crocheting. She enjoys the tangible experience of painting with oils and the vibrancy and texture that only a handmade oil painting can have. Her primary inspiration comes from the natural world, whether it be from the many hues of flower petals or the unique personalities of animals. The variety of color, light, and shape found in nature is a never-ending source of awe that she wants to share with others through her oil paintings.

MAIN GALLERY: KANSAS ART GUILD
NOVEMBER 20th - DECEMBER 19th, 2026
The Hutchinson Art Center is proud to feature the work of the Kansas Art Guild in our Main Gallery during the months of November and into December.
Originally formed in May 1977 as the Friends Community Art Guild, the guild’s first meetings were held at Friends University with eight members present. Nona Bass, President, had just moved from Anaheim, California, to Wichita and was surprised to learn that there was no organization in Wichita for its local artists. She felt it was important that artists could meet and share ideas.
The Guild grew rapidly and soon moved to the Wichita Art Museum. At that time, the name was changed to the Community Art Guild. When the Wichita Art Museum underwent renovation, the Guild moved to the Wichita Center for the Arts. The Guild later moved to its present location at Mark Arts | Mary R Koch Arts Center in January 2018.
In the summer of 1993, members voted to change the name to the Kansas Art Guild, Inc. At that time, it was decided to incorporate. The name is very appropriate since many of the members live many miles outside the Wichita Area. The Guild’s goal is to promote artists and their artwork. Members share their recent works, which are judged by visiting artists. The Guild also holds exhibitions at several locations in the area throughout the year.

Front gallery: small wonders: selections from the permanent collection
DECEMBER 18th, 2026 - JANUARY 16th, 2027
The Hutchinson Art Center is excited to share selections from the Hutchinson Art Association Permanent Collection during the months of December and January.
The Hutchinson Art Association has collected over 350 works of art by local, national, and international artists over its seven-plus decades of history.
This exhibition highlights works from the Permanent Collection that are tiny but mighty.
This exhibition will be on display in the Front Gallery from December 18th, 2026 - January 16th, 2027.
Main Gallery: Wonder Women: The Women Painters of Kansas
JANUARY 8th - FEBRUARY 27th, 2027
The Hutchinson Art Center is excited to share artwork created by women painters from Kansas that are housed in the Hutchinson Art Association Permanent Collection during January and February.
The Hutchinson Art Association has collected over 350 works of art by local, national, and international artists over its seven-plus decades of history.
This exhibition is a celebration of the artistic accomplishments and creativity of these women and the mark they left on the arts in Kansas.
This exhibition will be on display in the Main Gallery from January 8th - February 27th, 2027.

Front Gallery: Artwork by Katelynn McCoy
JANUARY 22nd - FEBRUARY 27th, 2027
The Hutchinson Art Center will have the work of Kansas artist Katelynn McCoy in our Front Gallery during late January and all of February.
Katelynn McCoy is the creative force behind KEMS ARTS LLC. She is known for her bold, expressive paintings that center on themes of transformation, healing, and emotional depth. Working primarily in acrylics and oils, she creates vibrant, layered pieces that invite viewers to slow down, feel deeply, and reconnect with their own stories.
This exhibition will be on display in the Front Gallery from January 22nd - February 27th, 2027.
Main Gallery: artwork from the 2027 spring consignment art auction

The Hutchinson Art Center is looking forward to holding another auction in the Spring of 2027.
Artworks from our 2026 Autumn Consignment Art Auction will be on display in our Main Gallery during the month of March.
This is a perfect opportunity to browse through our inventory of the many works of art available for live bidding at our consignment art auction on Saturday, March 20th, 2026.
Artwork will also be available for online viewing starting sometime in March 2027.

The Hutchinson Art Center will have the artwork of Wichita artist Matthew Thonen in our Front Gallery throughout March and into the first half of April.

MAIN GALLERY: Hutchinson HIGH SCHOOL International Baccalaureate student art show
MARCH 26th - MAY 1st, 2027
The International Baccalaureate (I.B.) Visual Arts Program at Hutchinson High School encourages students to challenge their own creative and cultural expectations and boundaries. It is a thought-provoking course in which students develop analytical skills in problem-solving and divergent thinking, while working toward technical proficiency and confidence as art-makers.

MAIN GALLERY: WICHITA WOMEN ARTISTS
MAY 7th - JUNE 12th, 2027
Wichita Women Artists was founded in 1950 as the Painting of the Month Club. Today, the artist-led group encourages members’ creative growth and introduces original art to audiences across Wichita and south-central Kansas. Its members work in a wide range of media, including sculpture, oil, watercolor, pastel, alcohol ink, collage, and mosaic, and this exhibit showcases that diversity of creative expression.

JUNE 18th - JULY 17, 2027
Rodney Wood works as an artist, educator, and arts advocate in Kansas. His artwork explores the human condition, joy, sorrow, contentment, loneliness, and humor, driven by what he describes as an incurable curiosity about feelings.
His body of work is often surreal in nature and includes oil paintings in a magical realism style and eclectic, intricate assemblages.
This exhibition will be on display in the Main Gallery from June 18th - July 17, 2027.
