DECEMBER 20th, 2025 - JANUARY 17th, 2026
The Hutchinson Art Center is excited to host the work of local artist Cathy Wilkins in our Front Gallery during the months of December and into January.
Cathy Wilkins, a self-taught artist, has been fascinated by anything related to art since childhood and decided at a very young that she wanted to be an artist. However, her art took a backseat to raising her children and working as a cosmetologist, where she was able to take a creative approach.
Wilkins has dabbled in drawing, acrylics, and oils. Watercolor was one medium she was fascinated by and at age 60 she began to explore the medium. As the artist stated, “ I wasn’t getting any younger! It was love at first brushstroke!”
Wilkins takes inspiration from the world of nature and things she loves, inviting the viewer to find a personal connection with her subjects. She brings out the vibrancy of colors through layering, blending, and dry brushing techniques.
“Painting is an act of love for me and it is my hope to convey that feeling to my viewers,” says Wilkins.
We invite you to enter Cathy WIlkins’ world through her beautiful watercolors.
This exhibition will be on display in the Front Gallery from December 20th, 2025 - January 17th, 2026.
