Jr. Members Art Show

The Hutchinson Art Center is trying something new this year! Hutchinson Art Center members who have children or grandchildren are invited to submit their children’s artwork to the Jr. Members Art Show — children aged 6-18 are encouraged to submit their artwork, and all mediums are welcome!

Why are we doing this? Creating art allows children to grow — it builds confidence, improves motor skills, and teaches problem-solving. It also gives them a safe space to express their feelings and explore new ideas. Giving children the opportunity to display their artwork in a public setting is also beneficial, as it builds self-esteem, validates their creative efforts, and tells them that their thoughts and ideas are valued. It is also a way for children to make connections and practice their communication and storytelling skills.

Guidelines:

  • Artists must be the children or grandchildren of a current Hutchinson Art Center member to participate. (Not a member or need to renew your membership? Learn how to become one HERE)

  • Artists must be between the ages of 6 and 18 years old.

  • Artists can submit one piece each to the exhibit (exceptions will be made on a case-by-case basis for diptychs and triptychs). 2D and 3D artwork is accepted. 

  • Submissions are limited to a maximum of 5 feet in width, height, and depth. 

  • Only artworks completed within the past two years will be accepted into this show.

  • All submitted artwork needs a note attached to the back (for 2D) or to the bottom (for 3D) of the piece upon delivery to the Hutchinson Art Center. The note should list the artist’s name and age, the piece’s title, its price or NFS (Not For Sale), medium, and the year it was made. 

  • 2D artwork must be ready to hang, with either a wire or a sawtooth hanger on the back.

    **Artwork MUST be delivered to the Art Center by November 7th during regular business hours.**
