The Hutchinson Art Center is looking forward to exhibiting the assemblage work of Kansas artist Susan Meyer, alongside the artwork by Melinda McDaniel in our Front Gallery for the month of July.
Susan Meyer is an artist who has lived in Hutchinson, Kansas for about 3.5 years, having previously lived in Southern California and a few years in Northern Germany. Professionally, she worked as The Colorweaver for about ten years in the late 1990 to 2000s, designing and creating one-of-a-kind Irish Dance costumes used in competitions.
She has branched into photography, painting, textile art, weaving, and unique handmade junk journals. Her curiosity and desire to challenge herself led to testing the waters of assemblage art.
Susan’s dresses were shipped over the entire United States and eastern Canada, and various pieces of her art and photography are on display in many homes on the west coast. She now takes her assemblage art on the road here in Kansas, entertaining seniors in retirement homes with the quirky pieces.
This exhibition is on display in the Front Gallery from July 2nd - August 2nd, 2025.
